She is...
A Bailey update:
-Last time we had Bailey, her and Elli decided to have an art show for us. They each made pictures in different categories from "funny" to "scary" to "elegant". They made title cards for each picture and invitations for us to come to the show. They spent HOURS on it. Bailey is a very patient kid and when Elli and her play, they can do anything for long periods of time. Elli can't do that with anyone else.
-Bailey loves to ride her bike. She is going to have a hard time this winter not being able to. The only problem with Bailey and her bike, is that clumsy and bikes don't go well together. Despite being decked out in helmet, knee and elbow pads, and even "riding" gloves, she always manages to injure herself somehow. Which brings me to the next point.
-Bailey is our accident prone child. I don't think she has ever walked past me without saying "ow". Maybe it is ingrained in her vocabulary, but I swear the kid just walks and manages to hurt herself on nothing but air. Steve has told her she is getting bubble wrap for Christmas.
-Elli aspires to be Bailey. She thinks she is the greatest thing in the world. I am so glad she has a sister she looks up to and I hope it stays that way. They have a great relationship and just seeing them together makes me smile.
-Bailey enjoys getting prissed out just like Elli does. Whenever we have to go even to the grocery store, they insist on putting on lip gloss, taking their purses, and their fake cell phones. Drives me and Steve crazy! Probably because they look more grown up that way and it is evidence that they are headed that direction. We want our girls to stay little!
-Bailey started a new school this year and is loving it. Her teacher is really great. Her homework is getting harder. I am testing myself on my elementary ed knowledge helping her with it. Could be interesting...
-Bailey loves to sleep with a hot pad, still has her beloved blanky, and loves to have her feet rubbed. She always insists on curlers in her hair on Saturday nights, and crepes in the morning. She handles dad's jokes and dishes them right back. She tries so hard to be fair to Elli and Carter both, as they fight for her attention. She has beautiful, thick hair, and a contagious laugh. I love her snuggles on sunday morning when she wakes up before me. There is nothing like having some early morning snuggles with all three kids trickling in one by one to climb in bed with me. What starts as snuggles, ends with laughs and nothing beats it!
-I am so glad to have Bailey in our family. We wish she was here more and miss her when she is away, but are thankful to be close and to have this girl to lighten our lives. As for the title of this post, she is...everything a beautiful daughter should be!

An Elli update:
-Elli came home from school a week or so ago with a backpack full of little tiny torn pieces of paper with things such as, "You are hot", "I love you", "Will you marry me", etc. They were from the same boy in her class who clearly has a crush on her. I don't think I need to worry. She had written him back in the same way, "I don't love you" "You are not hot", "I won't marry you". I told her to be a little more nice so she didn't hurt his feelings. Like say, "Lets just be friends", but she didn't like that idea. She claims he chases her and tries to kiss her at recess and always winks at her across the classroom. Elli took it upon herself to tell Bailey who came up with a great solution. "Just tell him you are already marrying Justin Bieber and so you can't marry him and he can't love you cause Justin Bieber already does." Now why didn't I think of that! Thus, they wrote the boy an "announcement" to the wedding of Elli and Justin Bieber. If he thought that she was already getting married he would leave her alone. It would solve everything! What an amazing sister! The only problem comes because I think deep down Elli is LOVING that he likes her and even likes him too. She would never admit it and is definitely mean to him, but when I told her he would move on to another girl soon she did not like that idea. Instead of being worried, I find the whole thing very humorous and entertaining. If this was happening in another few years, I won't be thinking the same way! Dreading the real life stuff like this!
-Elli got her hair cut this week and it looks darling! She is excited to be a flower girl at the wedding and wear her beautiful dress.
-Elli has lost a total of 8 teeth. 4 of which came out within the last month. Her poor little gums were so swollen waiting for the baby teeth to make room for the grown up teeth. Once they were gone the new ones were half way in. She was worried about what people at school would think of her. I am a little concerned that she is so concerned with that already. She was the same way with her haircut.
-I am such a jeans and T-shirt type girl, but she is all about the fancy. It's hard to get her to wear something simple. Drives me crazy!
-Elli is reading on a 3rd grade level which I am so excited about because last year half way through first grade she was behind. She has improved a ton! I think her stress level has dropped a lot and she is gaining confidence in her abilities as well.
-This girl is the sweetest thing though! She is very well behaved, protective of me, and proud of her family. I love my Elli!

Oh BOY.
Just wanted to make note of some fun Carter facts:
-When praying I often will say, "Please bless no harm or accident befall us."
When Carter prays, it gets turned into, "Please bless no harm attacks us."
-Steve and I tried telling Carter is was not appropriate to play video games on Sunday. We told him he would make Jesus sad. After much whining I finally told him he could make his own decision because he is a big 4 and is able to do so. So he went to play the Wii. When he came up for help, we told him we couldn't help him cause we didn't want to make Jesus sad by playing the Wii on Sunday. Steve said, "Go ask Jesus for help." Carter said matter of factly, "I can't. He is busy crying." I don't think he got our lesson!
-Carter informed Steve the other day that he deserved a surprise because he has been so good lately. Steve is taking the blame for that one. He is bribed WAY too much!
-When I spoke with Carter's pre-school teacher this week she told me what a quiet sweet little boy he is. She said he never speaks, won't sing the songs, and hasn't said a word to any of the other kids. But he is happy, smiles, and behaves. He tells me preschool is "boring" but he is happy to go and happy when he comes home. The only problem is, the boy she speaks of is not the boy that is at home! Steve just laughed when I told him what she had said.
-Carter is very into Star Wars right now. He takes pride in the fact that Steve knows so much about it. He thinks its annoying that I dont and rolls his eyes at me when I don't know one of the Star Wars "facts".
-I know when Carter wants something from me cause he will say, "Mommy you are pretty today." "I love you mommy." "Your the best mommy in the world". Give me hugs, kisses and rubs. Then he pulls out the "Can I's" and the "Will you's". Smart kid.
-It is the days when even 4 year olds are smart at technology. Carter knows how to fully operate an ipad, play the wii and Playstation, run both remotes to the TV and DVD player, and get on the computer and play a game. He knows how to text on my phone, just not the right spelling. What kind of world is this?! I thought it was just a funny sign of how things change through time, until I heard the conference talk about technology taking over our world and the problems it causes. I am trying to use more care in what I allow now. Especially for this little guy.
-Carter is actually getting really tall. I don't know how he compares on the charts at 4 1/2, but his pants from last winter are all floods so I know he has made some significant jumps. As far as weight, he is still a skinny kid but is healthy as can be and has unlimited stores of energy.
-Carter hates getting his hair cut and thus it is scraggly and long. He "doesn't care if it is long like a girls cause Elli says Justin Bieber is hot and he has long hair like a girl". Apparently I am going to have to come up with a new argument for that one!
-I have finally got Carter sleeping in his own bed! Woo Hoo! Although he usually only makes it until 3 or so, on a good night he doesn't climb in with me until 5 or 6. At this point I will take any of it. It really has made a big difference in my sleep quality. I am amazed. We are off to a good start.
-Kid still likes the eyebrows although it is calming down a bit. He only rubs them when he is extra sad, tired, or falling asleep. I can't see him going to Kindergarten with that habit so I bet it will be gone by then.
-I love the spunky, rambunctious, wild, handsome, sweet, loving little boy! I am so blessed to be his mama and just hope I can be the best mom I can be to him every day!
